It’s CR exam week, so a big good luck to everyone sitting essay-style papers. I know they can feel a little daunting, but with the right approach you’ll go in much calmer and more confident.
Here are 3 quick reminders for essay exams:
1. Plan before you write
Take 5 minutes to outline your answer. A clear structure stops you drifting and makes sure you hit the key points.
2. Answer the question asked (not the one you wish was there)
Underline key words in the question. Stay focused on what’s being asked, not everything you know about the topic.
3. Make it easy to mark
Use headings, short paragraphs and clear signposting. Markers love answers that are organised and easy to follow.
And finally, breathe. You’ve put the work in, now it’s about showing what you know in the most structured way.
You’ve got this, so let us know how you get on!
