Artificial Intelligence is transforming the workplace.
It can analyse data, automate routine tasks, write reports and even support decision making. As technology becomes more capable, the skills that make us uniquely human become even more valuable.
The ability to recognise emotions, build trust, understand behaviour and communicate effectively is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after professional skills.
Human Forecasting is a practical, research-informed training course that helps professionals better understand the emotional signals people communicate every day through their facial expressions, body language and behaviour.
By recognising these signals, you’ll learn how to adapt your communication, ask better questions, build stronger relationships and influence conversations more effectively.
Human Forecasting is the ability to recognise emotional information from non-verbal communication and use that insight to improve conversations, relationships and decision making.
This allows you to respond more thoughtfully, reduce misunderstandings and build trust more quickly.
As AI becomes increasingly capable of performing technical and administrative tasks, organisations are placing greater value on the skills that technology cannot easily replicate.
The future belongs to professionals who can:
✔ Build meaningful relationships
✔ Understand people
✔ Influence ethically
✔ Create psychological safety
✔ Recognise emotional responses
✔ Adapt communication styles
✔ Lead with empathy
✔ Build trust quickly
These are the skills that strengthen leadership, sales, procurement, customer service, project management and every profession built around people.
This course introduces delegates to the pioneering research of psychologist Dr Paul Ekman, whose work demonstrated that several core emotions are expressed through universal facial expressions across cultures.
You’ll explore the seven universal emotions and learn how recognising emotional cues can support more effective communication and stronger relationships.
The course also considers emotional awareness, self-awareness and how recognising our own emotional responses can improve the way we interact with others.
Recognise the seven universal emotions identified by Paul Ekman’s research
Understand the role of facial expressions in communication
Improve emotional awareness
Build stronger professional relationships
Ask better questions based on emotional cues
Adapt your communication style
Increase trust and rapport
Recognise when conversations may require a different approach
Improve influencing and negotiation skills
Become more confident in difficult conversations
Many neurodivergent professionals describe finding social interactions difficult because the unwritten rules of communication are often unclear.
This course provides a practical framework for recognising common emotional signals and understanding how they may influence conversations.
Rather than expecting people to “just know”, we explore observable behaviours and evidence-based techniques that can help participants build confidence in reading social situations.
The course has been particularly valuable for professionals who are autistic, have ADHD, or simply want to better understand how people communicate beyond words.
Importantly, we also discuss the limitations of interpreting non-verbal behaviour. Emotional cues should never be viewed in isolation or treated as proof of what someone is thinking. Instead, they provide useful information that can guide curiosity, empathy and more effective questioning.
Highly interactive and engaging, this workshop includes:
Delegates leave with practical techniques they can apply immediately in both professional and personal conversations.
Human Forecasting® is available as an in-house training course for organisations across the UK.
“In my opinion BAO delivered the best training I have ever received, it was pitched at the right level, there was a great balance of theory and audience participation, the activities were relevant and were timed really well which supported with audience engagement.
The content was really relevant and I particularly enjoyed learning about the ‘softer’ side of negotiation skills as this was a very different approach to what I have been taught in the past.”
