Apparently, there is no rest for the wicked, and by wicked I obviously mean our students!
The ink on your November exams has barely dried and here we are, already diving into the January lessons. I know, I know, that makes me about as popular as Elphaba at a school dance. But before you start loathing me (see what I did there), hear me out.
There is a reason we get started now. It keeps you fresh, builds momentum and means future-you will not be crying into revision notes in late January. The good news is that you will get your break over the holidays. Even the most dedicated witch needs to hang up her broom for a week or two.
Think of this as Act One. We are setting up the story, learning the spells, figuring out which side of the classroom is up. You do not have to defy gravity yet, just show up, stay curious and maybe hum a few show tunes while you work.
And if you are already feeling that little flicker of exam dread, remember that even Glinda had her off days, and she turned out just fine, sparkles and all.
So yes, I am back, and no, I am not winning any popularity contests this week. But I am genuinely excited to get stuck in again with you, and I promise this next module will be far less wicked than it sounds.
See you in class, broomsticks optional!
PS: If you’ve see the Wicked movie, let me know which song sums up your study mood. Personally, I am torn between Loathing and Defying Gravity depending on how much coffee I have had.
