Have you ever worked with someone who just seems to get people?
They don’t necessarily have the loudest voice in the room or the most impressive job title, yet somehow projects move forward when they’re involved. They get buy-in. They bring people together. They navigate difficult conversations without creating conflict, and when challenges arise, people genuinely want to help them find a solution.
It’s easy to assume they’re just naturally good with people, but I don’t think that’s the case. More often than not, they’ve learnt how to understand what matters to others, and they’ve developed the skills to build trust, adapt their approach and influence in a way that feels authentic.
When I look back over my own career, and the thousands of procurement professionals, leaders and managers I’ve worked with, I’ve realised that stakeholder management sits quietly behind almost every successful business outcome.
Think about it. You can be an exceptional negotiator, but if you haven’t built trust with the other party, the negotiation becomes far more difficult than it needs to be. You can have a robust contract management process, but if the relationship with your supplier has broken down, you’ll spend more time firefighting than improving performance. You can have a technically brilliant project plan, but if your key stakeholders don’t understand it or don’t support it, progress soon grinds to a halt.
It’s rarely the process that gets in the way, let’s be honest, it’s usually the people.
✨That’s exactly why we’ve created our NEW one-day Stakeholder Management Course✨
This isn’t a course about stakeholder matrices that end up sitting in a drawer. It’s about understanding people. How to build credibility from the very beginning. How to identify who really influences decisions. How to navigate competing priorities without becoming frustrated. And perhaps most importantly, how to have the conversations that so many of us tend to avoid.
It’s practical, interactive and based around real workplace situations, because stakeholder management isn’t something you learn by looking at PowerPoint slides. It’s something you develop through discussion, reflection and practice.
Initially, we’ll be delivering the course in-house for organisations with groups of eight or more delegates. However, we’ve already had a few people ask whether we’ll be running an open programme. If there’s enough interest, we’d absolutely love to make that happen.
So, if you think this is something that could benefit your team, or you’d like to hear about future open course dates, simply register your interest ⭐ HERE! ⭐
There isn’t any obligation at this stage. We’d just love to know whether this is a course that resonates with you.
After all, technical skills might help you get the job, but it’s your ability to work with people that often determines how far you go.
